Justin & Ann Marie

Our engagement was during the summer of 2009 in Peterborough Ontario. It took a month for Justin to actually pop the question, not because of cold feet but cold, rainy weather. The plan that was hatched involved a long hike through the woods to a beautiful waterfall just outside of Peterborough in the Petroglyphs Provincial Park. Though we had planned the hike for weeks, each time we decided to go the weather turned out less then ideal.
Finally the rain relented and we could make the 16km hike without getting soaked, with rain anyway. At the end of our hike we reached our destinationHigh Falls! We sat down together among other hikers and canoers and enjoyed the scenery as well as some much-needed lunch.
After we finished our lunch, Justin said he needed to go for a walk. In reality he was checking that the engagement ring was still safely stowed away in his shorts pocket. Shortly after he returned he leaned over and proposed! As the long hike back awaited we stowed the ring back into the safety of the pocket out of fear of losing it on the trail, but it made it back safe and sound and the rest is history.
