January 8th 2009 9:30pm Shaylesh and Brenda are talking on the phone, as they do every night around this time.
Shaylesh: Im going to be downtown on business tomorrow. Ill pick you up from work; we can go skating at Harbourfront, and then go for Korean.
Brenda: Mmmm Korean, oh youre being spontaneous! Ill be done work at five.
January 9th 2009 10:00am Shaylesh receives a text message from Brenda, she has made plans for them to meet up with their friends Amna and Bobby after dinner.
January 9th 2009 10:02am Shaylesh is sweating; he needs to think of something fast.
January 9th 2009 10:30am Shaylesh sends a text to all of Brendas friends pleading with them to cancel any plans they have made with Brenda, hes going to do something very important tonight.
January 9th 2009 11:30am Shaylesh receives a text message from Brenda, she says plans after dinner are cancelled. Shaylesh is relieved, but is the secret still safe?
January 9th 2009 2:00pm Shaylesh travels to The Spot to confirm preparations are underway.
January 9th 2009 5:00pm Shaylesh picks up Brenda. No odd looks, no awkward silences, no tears. It appears the secret is still safe.
January 9th 2009 6:00pm Shaylesh and Brenda arrive at Harbourfront Center. Love is in the air.
January 9th 2009 7:30pm Mmmmm... Korean food. Shayleshs nerves are starting to get the better of him.
January 9th 2009 9:00pm Shaylesh and Brenda are around the corner from her apartment. Shaylesh turns left onto Eglinton.
Shaylesh: Hmmm, I feel like a hot chocolate from Starbucks.
Brenda: Really? You never drink Starbucks, and I have hot chocolate at home.
Shaylesh: I know, but Starbucks has whipped cream!
January 9th 2009 9:03pm Brenda is convinced; Shaylesh parks the car in front of the Marquee at Eglinton Grand.
January 9th 2009 9:04pm Shaylesh and Brenda exit the car.
Shaylesh: Brenda, look what movies playing.
Brenda turns around to read the marquee: Brenda, Will you marry me?
Shaylesh is on bended knee when Brenda turns back to him.
Brenda: Are you serious?!?!?!? Oh my god, YES!!!!
